MoS Raksha Khadse Reviews Preparations for Historic Asian Senior Fencing Championships 2026 at Bharat Mandapam

Preparations for the Asian Senior Fencing Championships 2026 are underway at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi." A Historic Milestone for Indian Sports Scheduled to take place from June 19 to June 24, 2026, this tournament marks a monumental milestone as it is the first time India is hosting a continental-level fencing championship. Often referred to as the "Asia Cup" of fencing, the event serves as a direct qualifier for the upcoming Asian Games and offers crucial ranking points for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 cycle. During her inspection, MoS Raksha Khadse was accompanied by senior officials, including Satej Patil, President of the Fencing Association of India (FAI), and Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General of the FAI. "Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is rapidly emerging as a global sporting nation. The Asian Senior Fencing Championships 2026 reflects this vision and showcases India's growing capabilities on the global sporting stage," Khadse remarked during her visit. World-Class Infrastructure & Advanced Tech The Minister took strict stock of the elite competition infrastructure, athlete amenities, and advanced technological integrations. Notably, the event is set to act as a global testing ground for precision-driven sports tech, including the implementation of an AI Video Referral System, positioning India at the forefront of a tech-driven era in refereeing. Event Highlights Grand Opening Ceremony: Under the unifying motto "ONE DREAM | ONE BLADE | ONE PRIDE," the 26th Asian Fencing Championships will officially kick off on June 19, 2026, at 06:00 PM at Hall No. 2-3, Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan), New Delhi. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya (Hon. Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports) will headline the historic event as the Chief Guest, alongside Special Guest Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse (Hon. Minister of State, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports). Attendees are requested to be seated by 5:30 PM. Global Administration Presence: The championship marks a massive moment for global sports governance, drawing a powerful assembly of international fencing heads. This includes Abdelmoneim El Husseiny (Interim President of the FIE), H.H. Engr. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi (President of the FCA), and the presidents of both the African and Pan American Fencing Confederations, making this one of the most highly attended continental sports assemblies in New Delhi this year.
